Wine Review: This slightly cloudy and dark ruby colored Tempranillo from Cantadora opens with a black cherry and black olive bouquet with hints of light tobacco, wet slate, black licorice, and fig. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, round and savory. The flavor profile is black plum and stone dust blend with notes of tobacco, black tea, and black olive. We also detected hints of black cherry, raw dark chocolate, and clove. The finish is dry, and its dusty tannins build-up and stick around for quite a long time. We would decant this Tempranillo for a while and then pair it with a well-marbled ribeye or with lamb lollipops. Enjoy - KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: After making this wine for several years I have isolated my favorite block and fermentation style. The block is planted with Graciano inside of it giving a little juicy uplift to this rich and brooding varietal. The fermentation is light tough with an emphasis on integrating tannins early to create a refined finish on the palate. This wine is an ode to the Gran Reserve Rioja style with rich layers of dark fruits and a warmth and spice note on the palate with 30% new French Oak. Drinking well now and for 20-30 years.
