Wine Review: This pale straw Chardonnay from Cameron Hughes is a very good value. It opens with an attractive mild oak and light pear bouquet with a hint of banana. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, slightly acidic and nicely coats your mouth. The flavor profile is a tasty light lemon with notes of pear and vanilla oak. The finish is dry and its flavors and nice acidity linger and last for a while. This Chard would pair nicely with pasta carbonara. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: This is our best-selling white wine every year. Barrel fermented in new American oak with full malolactic fermentation, this style of Chardonnay suits the Arroyo Seco sub-appellation of Monterey County to a T. While 2012 was a fantastic comeback for this wine (since frost decimated our chances in 2011), 2013 is even better than 2012, Lot 465 is light and fruity while layered with pineapple, mango, and guava notes, framed by a racy acidity. Honey and butterscotch notes vividly frame the luscious finish. Exquisite.
