Wine Review: This opaque and very dark ruby colored Pinot Noir from the Santa Maria Valley opens with cinnamon and mild blackberry bouquet. I also detected a hint of dark chocolate. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced and very smooth. The flavor profile is a mild mineral infused plum with notes of oak. I also detected hints of black raspberry and black pepper. The finish is dry and its moderate sticky tannins linger for quite some time. This Pinot would pair well with twice-cooked pork. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: The 2014 Benchbreak Pinot Noir is a dark purple color with red fruit characters of cranberry, cherry, pomegranate, and strawberry coupled with a bit of blueberry aromas and flavors. There is a touch of Asian spice and subtle earthy characters. Balanced tannins lead way to a lingering finish. Try our Benchbreak Pinot Noir with mushrooms, roasted tomatoes, filet mignon, and seared ahi.
