Wine Review: This dark ruby colored Pinot Noir from Calera opens with a strawberry and stewed red plum bouquet with hints of red licorice, red beet, and cranberry. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with integrated medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, luscious, smooth, and fresh. The flavor profile is a stony minerality and red plum blend with notes of integrated cedar, spice, and red cherry. We also detected some hints of boysenberry and spearmint towards the end. The finish is dry, and its fine dusty tannins and flavors linger and last for a while. The Tasting Panel would pair this Pinot with veal Milanese or with coq au vin. Enjoy – KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: Planted in 1975 and featuring a northern exposure, Reed is always the last vineyard harvested on Mt. Harlan each year, yielding a wine with lovely energy and enticing aromas of cracked black pepper, ripe cherry and red raspberry. On the palate, soft, supple tannins add depth and nuance to flavors of strawberry, cherry cola and clove as they glide to a long, elegant finish.
