Wine Review: This medium garnet colored Pinot Noir from Calera opens with a mild potting soil and gentle strawberry bouquet with hints of blackberry, red plum, and cedar. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with medium acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, gentle, smooth, and nicely coats your mouth. The flavor profile is tasty black raspberry tea and red plum blend with notes of blood orange, mushroom, and cedar. We also detected a hint of red cherry licorice in the mix. The finish is dry, and its acidity and flavors are nicely extended. The Tasting Panel would pair this Pinot with Sheri’s sausage stuffed mushrooms or with a Peking duck. Enjoy – KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: This alluring expression of Santa Lucia Highlands Pinot Noir displays lavish aromas of brambly blackberry and cherry cola. The voluptuous dark berry and black cherry notes are echoed on the lush, mouthcoating palate, where they mingle with flavors of black raspberry, cedar, and white pepper, with a streak of underlying acidity adding verve and freshness to a long, resonant finish.
