Wine Review: This bright red colored Pinot Noir from Calera opens with strawberry, cedar, and red licorice bouquet with hints of oolong tea, Rainier cherry, and white pepper. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with medium acidity. The mouthfeel is nicely balanced, soft, smooth, and delicate. The flavor profile is a strawberry and clove blend with notes of toasty oak, cardamom, and cured meat. We also detected hints of herbal tea and stony minerality. The finish is dry, and its flavors and mild tannins linger nicely. The Tasting Panel would pair this Pinot with poached salmon, a charcuterie board or with Filho’s wild mushroom filled ravioli. Enjoy – KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: Planted in 1984 and located at an elevation of 2,200 feet, the prized old vines of Mills Vineyard produced an exquisite Pinot Noir in 2019. On the palate this wine is elegantly vivacious, with juicy red berry and cherry flavors underscored by sophisticated layers of jasmine, citrus zest and earthy forest floor, all of which carry the wine to a long red berry and sweet baking spice finish.
