Wine Review: This medium garnet colored Pinot Noir from Calera opens with a flat cherry-cola and faint clove bouquet. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with very nicely integrated medium acidity. The mouthfeel is nicely balanced, lush, smooth, and fresh. The flavor profile is black cherry and gentle plum blend with notes of faint cola and mushroom. We also detected hints of crushed stone and strawberry in the mix. The finish is dry and its flavors drift away nicely. The Tasting Panel would pair this Pinot with oven roasted cherry chicken with rosemary. Enjoy – KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: Grown at elevations reaching 1,800 feet, the famed Chalone Vineyard has produced an elegant cool-climate Pinot Noir with beautiful aromas of ripe red cherry, cranberry, currant, and sweet sage. The vibrant red berry and briar patch layers continue on the palate where silky tannins and an undercurrent of bright acidity add poise and length to a long, supple finish.
