Wine Review: This dark ruby colored Pinot Noir from Calera opens with a black raspberry and dark plum bouquet. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with medium acidity. This also found this wine to be quite savory. The flavor profile is a mineral influenced black plum with hints earth, tobacco, black tea, and oak. The finish is dry, and its mild tannins are nicely extended. We would pair this Pinot with a grilled skirt steak. Enjoy - Ken and Dave
Winemaker Notes: The 2018 vintage continues de Villiers’ tradition of producing one of the most luxurious and dark-fruited expressions of Pinot Noir from Mt. Harlan. On the nose, dramatic aromas of black cherry, briary blackberry, and sarsaparilla immediately command attention. The dark berry flavors continue on the palate, where they are supported by firm, age-worthy tannins that frame the fruit and carry the wine to a long, lush cherry and spice finish.
