Wine Review: This ruby colored Pinot Noir from Calera opens with pomegranate and cola bouquet. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced and bright. The flavor profile is stewed plum, pomegranate and stony mineral blend with notes of craisin and clove. I also detected hints of blood orange, nutmeg, and red raspberry towards the end. The finish is dry, and its flavors and acidity linger for quite a while. This Pinot would pair well with Emeril's roast pheasant along with his savory wild mushroom bread pudding. Enjoy – Ken!
Winemaker Notes: At 20 years of age, the beautifully mature vines of Ryan Vineyard have produced a stunning wine with enticing aromas of red cherry, dried herbs, and fresh-cracked pepper. On the palate, layers of blackberry, strawberry and sage emerge, framed by firm, grippy tannins and a lively undercurrent of acidity that carries the age-worthy wine to a lush, lingering finish.
