Wine Review: This dark red colored Pinot Noir from Calera opens with a fragrant black cherry jubilee and strawberry bouquet with a hint of Play-Doh. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, slightly acidic and smooth. The flavor profile is a black raspberry and black cherry blend with notes of green tea. We also detected hints of flinty minerality. The finish is dry and dusty moderate tannins stick around for a while. The Panel noted that this Pinot benefited from some aeration. So, they suggested swirling it or even decanting his sturdy Pinot before pairing it with braised short ribs or venison. Enjoy - KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: Once again, de Villiers Vineyard has yielded one of Mt. Harlan's most luxurious and robust Pinot Noirs, with deep, penetrating flavors of ripe plum, black cherry and cassis. As it unfurls, the wine reveals beautiful underlying complexity, with fine-grained tannins and hints of white pepper, sassafras and cigar box lingering on the finish.
