Wine Review: This straw-colored Viognier from Calera was very well received by the Tasting Panel. It opens with a Captain Crunch, vanilla biscotti, and honey bouquet with hints of almond butter. On the palate, this wine is full-bodied and balanced with medium minus acidity. We all felt it was polished and smooth. The flavor profile is a tasty almond and golden delicious apple blend with notes of refined wet slate minerality and brioche. We also detected hints of lemon grass and peach towards the end. The finish is dry and its flavors drift away nicely. We suggest pairing this Viognier with a several dishes like a seafood casserole, a roasted Cornish game hen or a grilled mahi-mahi with a mango chutney. Enjoy - KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: To underscore the enticing complexity of this cool-climate Viognier, it was crafted using a combination of neutral French oak barrels, stainless steel and concrete tank. Alluring aromas of honeysuckle, white peach and citrus are echoed on the palate, where they mingle with luxurious notes of lemon meringue and jasmine that glide to a bright, zesty finish.
