Wine Review: This straw-colored Chardonnay from Calera is impressive. It opens with a pineapple and oak bouquet. On the palate, this wine is full bodied and slightly acidic, yet has a round and lush mouthfeel. The flavor profile is a tasty toasted oak influenced pear with notes of butter and quince. I also detected a hint of faint minerality in the aftertaste. The finish is dry and its acidity and flavors show a nice extended length. This Chardonnay would pair well with Roy’s baked stuffed lobster. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: Grown high on the limestone-rich soils of Mt. Harlan, this is a sleek and sophisticated expression of cool-climate Chardonnay, with alluring aromas of guava, Mandarin orange, fennel and hints of cedar. On the palate, the wine’s lovely weight and lush texture is balanced by a bright natural acidity that adds purity and precision to the generous white peach and passionfruit flavors.
