Wine Review: This dark red colored Pinot Noir opens with a cherry-cola and strawberry bouquet with a hint of rose pedals. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced and savory. The flavor profile is a tart red plum with notes of oak, strawberry rhubarb and flinty minerality. I also detected hints of cinnamon mixed in. The finish has nice length for a Pinot. This rustic styled Pinot would pair well with Provencal beef stew (aka Beef Daube). Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: This wine was made as a barrel selection of Calera’s finest lots of Pinot Noir from the famed Bien Nacido Vineyard. The result is a dazzling Pinot Noir, with layers of black cherry, blackberry, anise and black pepper, as well as French oak-inspired hints of cedar and spice. Velvety tannins add to the rich, viscous mouthfeel, carrying the wine to a dramatic finish.
