Wine Review: This dark red colored Pinot Noir from Calera finished tied for second in our first Big Blind Tasting of Pinots. It opens with an attractive cherry-vanilla bouquet with a hint of forest floor. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, slightly acidic and juicy. The flavor profile is a complex blend of green olive and minerals with notes of oak and black currant and a hint of stewed red plum. The finish is dry and its flavors and acidity last for a long time. The Panel felt that this Pinot would age well. They suggested pairing it with a veal or lamb chop. Enjoy - KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: A fascinating bouquet of rich roast pork with hints of licorice, chicory, redwood bark, black plum and slate are just the beginning of this beguiling wine. There’s great tension on the palate with a profound silkiness and edgy grippy tannins wrapped around a captivating core of wild blueberry, brown spice and cardamom. Once opened up the texture is smooth, sensual and graceful with a beautiful lingering finish.
