Wine Review: This deep yellow colored Viognier from Calera is very nice. It opens with a ripe golden delicious apple bouquet with hints of lemon and candle wax. On the palate, this wine is full bodied, balanced and creamy. The flavor profile is a pleasant mild Bartlett pear and fig blend with notes of mild minerality, gentle oak and a touch of mango and lemon towards the end. The finish is dry and its flavors fade away nicely. This Viognier is food friendly and would pair well chicken, broccoli and penne in a light cream sauce. This a very nice intro to the grape if you are not familiar with it. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: Aromas of white peach, honeysuckle and lilac waft from this bright, beautiful Viognier. Flavors of macadamia nut, Honeycrisp apple and talc wrap around a core of fine-grained tannin and minerality with hints of lime and white almond. The finish is creamy and persistent.
