Wine Review: This pale straw colored Chardonnay from Cakebread opens with a lemon and oak bouquet with a hint of green apple. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, slightly acidic and approachable. The flavor profile is a tasty moderate oak influenced green apple with notes of gentle minerality. I also detected hints of butter and a touch of lemon verbena towards the end. The finish is dry and its flavors fade away nicely. The Chard is bound to be a crowd pleaser and popular glass pour at nice restaurant. I would pair it with chicken cordon bleu. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: Bright, creamy, golden apple, white peach, pear and melon aromas, with hints of mineral, yeast and oak spice, introduce rich, full-bodied, apple, pear and melon flavors that persist throughout a lingering finish refreshed by vibrant citrus and mineral tones. Our 2016 Napa Valley Chardonnay is a treat now, but it will develop even greater complexity and appeal with 5-7 years' aging.
