Wine Review: This dark ruby colored red blend from Napa opens with fragrant pomegranate bouquet with notes of black cherry and cranberry. On the palate, this wine is full bodied, balanced and very fruit forward. The flavor profile is a rich and concentrated blend of black raspberry and pomegranate. I also picked up notes of minerality, oak, boysenberry and hints of black pepper. The finish is dry and its fruit flavors and moderate tannins build up and linger for quite some time. You could certainly cellar this wine for a while. But if you can’t wait, I would decant if for an hour and serve it with slow cooked braised short ribs. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: They named this proprietary blend Ol' Pa's Cuvee after their maternal grandfather. As the wine opens, look for notes of blueberry, blackberry, black cherry, plum, smoke, and licorice, as well as balance, depth, and a lengthy, persistent finish. The 2013 O.P.C. is opulent, vibrant, and luscious – all at the same time.
