Wine Review: This opaque and midnight purple colored Merlot from Brandon Gregory opens with a black currant and black coffee bouquet with hints of dark chocolate, blueberry, and oak. On the palate, this wine is medium plus bodied with integrated medium acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, very smooth, dense, and supple. The flavor profile is a delicious blend of stewed plum and black cherry along with notes of blueberry and oak. We also detected hints of bacon and boysenberry. The finish is dry, and its refined tannins linger and drift away nicely. In the near term this wine benefits from an extended decant. You will be rewarded. Then the Tasting Panel would pair this impressive Merlot with fall off the bone braised short ribs. Enjoy – KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: The 2021 vintage of Brandon Gregory Estate Merlot is a wine with great depth, power, and structure. Its vast array of aromatics offer earthy notes, black and red fruits, coffee, vanilla, and a touch of spice. There’s sweetness across the palate that is balanced by the wine’s natural acidity. Polished, soft tannins offer great volume and lead to a lengthy finish.
