Wine Review: This hazy dark garnet colored Red Blend from Brandlin opens with a black raspberry and violet bouquet with hints of red currant, cocoa, and bay leaf. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with integrated medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is nicely balanced, smooth, and mouthcoating. The flavor profile is gentle licorice and graphite blend with notes of dark chocolate and tobacco. We also detected hints of mild blueberry, black cherry, muddled mint, and toasted oak. The finish is initially very dry, and its flavors and dusty tannins build-up and stick around for quite a while. That said, this wine benefits from aeration and a good decant brings out its best. So, after decanting, the Tasting Panel would pair this red blend with a porterhouse steak or a pot roast. Enjoy - KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: The 2021 Estate Cuvée is a blend of four Bordeaux varieties, balancing the vibrant violets and lavender notes of Cabernet Franc with the rich, deeper tones of cocoa and mocha from our Petit Verdot and Cabernet Sauvignon, the wine allows the vineyard’s distinctive character to shine through every sip. The brighter fruit characters of the Cabernet Franc’s lively raspberry and persimmon intertwine seamlessly with the darker, sultry notes of blueberry and black currant from Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot. The ample, mouth-coating tannins pave the way for a lingering, ever-resolving finish.
