Wine Review: This midnight purple colored Shiraz based blend from South Africa opens with a black currant and cigar box bouquet with hints of black raspberry and pencil shavings. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is round, savory and a bit bright. The flavor profile is a red plum and stony minerality blend with notes of cedar, mulberry. and graphite. I also picked up some hints of craisin and smoked meat in the aftertaste. The finish is dry and its flavors and dusty tannins build-up and stick around for quite a long time. This wine would pair well with Brazilian fire roasted beef alcatra or slow-cooked beef brisket. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: The wine mesmerizes with a beautiful ruby color, and first impression of berry and plum aromas layered with winter spice and roast cacao bean complexity. The entry is smooth and rich, leading to sumptuous ripe mulberry, black cherry and cassis flavors etched with black pepper and oak spice on the palate. The finish is long and moreish, with tremendous texture and lingering fruit concentration.
