Wine Review: This dark garnet colored Petit Verdot based blend from Virginia opens with a blackberry and mild mint bouquet with hints of black cherry cola and old oak. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, round and fresh. The flavor profile is a menthol and black plum blend with notes of cedar, black cherry, and cinnamon tea. I also detected a hint of sage in the aftertaste. The finish is dry and its flavors, acidity, and mild tannins drift away nicely. I would pair this good value red blend with Morimoto Asia’s hoisin sticky spareribs. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: Made in collaboration with Bridgewater College, this wine pairs well with tailgate foods, cornhole and sweater weather. It is a blend of 56% Petit Verdot, 28% Merlot, 16% Cabernet Franc so it is smooth and dark without being too heavy. Makes a great gift for a BC grad!
