Wine Review: This midnight black colored wine from Blackbird is hearty. It opens with a fragrant black currant bouquet with a hint of blueberry. On the palate, this wine is full bodied, balanced and displays ripe fruit flavors. Those fruit flavors are a blackberry and black tea blend with notes of oak and black currant. I also detected hints of black pepper. The finish is dry and its flavors and moderate tannins are nicely prolonged. This wine would pair well with slow-cooked braised short ribs. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: The 2015 Arise's aromas of ripe blackberries, black currant, iris, forest floor, and clove are nothing short of charming, and just as every artist needs a muse, Arise is without a doubt the muse for Blackbird’s current collection. With flavors of licorice, black cherry, nutty fig, cocoa powder, and tobacco this wine has a richly layered mid-palate that is complimented by smooth tannins, good density, and a long, lingering finish.
