Wine Review: This opaque and midnight purple colored blend opens with a blackberry bouquet with hints of black raspberry, coffee and leather. On the palate, this wine is full bodied, balanced, well built and savory. The flavor profile is a tasty blackberry with notes of dark chocolate and oak. We also detected hints of blueberry that show up at the end. The finish is dry and its flavors and moderate tannins linger and last for quite a while. The panel felt this blend would pair well with a filet mignon with blue cheese butter. Enjoy - KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: Commanding and expressive with savory notes of black cherry, truffle, pepper, and bay, Contrarian is the most powerful of the Blackbird trio. Black currant, toffee, sweet herbs, and espresso are framed by well-structured, bold tannins that crescendo with lush fruit into a long finish. While the wine is gratifying now, Contrarian will age gloriously with time in the cellar.
