Wine Review: This very dark purple colored wine opens with a mild blueberry like bouquet. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, very smooth, and balanced. The flavor profile is a tasty black raspberry with notes of blueberry. There is even a touch of red currant and black pepper in the background. The finish is dry and its moderate tannins are slightly prolonged. This wine is very food friendly and would pair well with seasoned pork tenderloin. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: The Black Chook is sourced from two of the best known wine growing regions in South Australia, namely McLaren Vale and Langhorne Creek. McLaren Vale is known for its consistent, Mediterranean-type climate and Langhorne Creek characteristically produces Shiraz that is spicy, flavorful and elegant. Co-fermenting small amounts of Viognier skins with Shiraz adds a wonderful apricot perfume, at the same time as intensifying the deep rich color and velvety mouthfeel of the wine.
