Wine Review: This medium garnet colored Pinot Noir from Black Kite opens with a fragrant wet stone and black cherry bouquet with hints of black plum, nutmeg, and cedar. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with medium acidity. The mouthfeel is round, nicely textured, and well-balanced. The flavor profile is a juicy red plum and stony minerality blend with notes of cinnamon and strawberry. We also detected hints of vanilla, dried herbs, and black tea. The finish is dry, and its acidity and fruit flavors linger and last for a while. The Tasting Panel would pair this Pinot with a grilled pork chop and pan-seared duck breast. Enjoy – KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: The fruit profile of our "Gap's Crown" Vineyard block is so consistent and so vivid that we've taken to calling our Pinot Noir from here "cherry pie in a glass". Our 2019 bottling is no exception, with ripe cherry and blackberry aromas leaping from the glass, joined by notes of vanilla, brown spice and caramel with just a hint of pipe tobacco to make it interesting. On the palate, all this just-baked goodness unfurls in bright, concentrated layers of macerated cherries and sweet toasty oak, hints of which persist throughout the long complex finish. Enjoy upon release or cellar for up to 8-11 years.
