Wine Review: This dark ruby colored Pinot Noir from Black Kite is very good. It opens with a cherry-cola and mild blueberry like bouquet with a hint of mocha. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied and nicely balanced. The flavor profile is a tasty black cherry and mild mineral blend with notes of mocha, oak, nutmeg and blueberry. The finish is rather dry and sticky for a Pinot. Decanting for 30 minutes opens this wine up. Then I would pair this very nice Pinot with seared duck breast with cherries and port sauce. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: Our 2016 Stony Terrace Pinot Noir is a wine that presents itself in alluring waves, each one beckoning you to the next. The vivid color hints at the dark berry, sweet plum and cola notes that, in turn, unfurl on the rich palate in layers of increasingly dark and complex fruit expression, nuanced by touches of dark chocolate, clove, sweet pipe tobacco and ginger. The wine’s round mouthfeel, persistent length and tannic grip suggest even more reward for those with the patience to wait. Decant before serving upon release or cellar for 8-10 years.
