Wine Review: This deep purple colored Malbec from Mendoza opens mild boysenberry bouquet with a hints of blackberry, clove and vanilla bean. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced and juicy with bright acidity. The flavor profile is a tad rustic featuring a flinty mineral and spiced red plum blend with notes of smoky oak. We also detected hints of anise, blackberry, black pepper and some black tea mixed in. The finish is dry and its flavors, tingly acidity, tannins and a touch of heat linger for a while. This Malbec is a good value offering and would pair with sizzling steak fajitas or Blue-Ribbon barbecue. Enjoy – Ken, Karen and Stuart.
Winemaker Notes: A deep purple color with a very attractive magenta hue. Ripe plum, cherry, violet, chocolate, vanilla, and mineral aromas on the nose, with some spice notes that San Rafael Malbec's are known for. Achieves a remarkable fruit-wood balance. Harmonious, with balanced acidity and delicate tannins which make for a broad palate and persistent finish.
