Wine Review: This pale straw-colored Chardonnay opens with a banana crème pie bouquet with hints of pineapple and a touch of oak. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced, velvety and smooth. The flavor profile is a gentle toasted oak and mineral influenced mild pineapple and pear blend. We also picked up some hints of lemon and butter brickle ice cream. The finish is dry and its flavors drift away nicely. The Panel thought this was a nice Chard to sip on. With food they recommended baked Dover sole or baked halibut with a caper sauce. Enjoy - KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: Gamble Ranch, the source for Private Reserve, is Beringer's northern most Chardonnay vineyard. The 2018 from this ranch is fresh and vibrant, well-balanced with medium weight trending to richness. There are classic California Chardonnay notes of honeysuckle, lemon confit, crème brulee with aromas and flavors of tropical fruit such as pineapple, mango and tangerine. A light touch of oak leads to a pleasing, lingering finish.
