Wine Review: This pale purple colored Cabernet Franc from Bourgueil in the Loire Valley of France opens with a funky new leather, barnyard and Maraschino cherry bouquet. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with nicely integrated medium acidity. The mouthfeel is nicely balanced, smooth, and soft. The flavor profile is a tasty red currant and cedar blend with notes of roasted of red bell pepper and red cherry licorice. I also detected hints of crushed stone, dried herbs, and a dash of black pepper. The finish is dry, and its moderate tannins linger and last for quite some time but soften with some air. I would pair this Cab Franc with beef bourguignon. Enjoy – Ken
