Wine Review: This dark ruby colored Zinfandel from Bedrock opens with a musty bouquet featuring ripe black cherry, boysenberry, and old leather. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with medium acidity. The mouthfeel is bright, juicy, and easy to drink. The flavor profile is a stony mineral infused red plum with notes of raspberry tea. I also detect hints of cinnamon and star anise. The finish is dry and its well-managed tannins drift away nicely. This Zin benefits greatly with some aeration to integrate the acidity. Once settled it becomes very food friendly and would be perfect with Italian braciola. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: The fulcrum of this wine is based around our estate vineyards, with much of it coming from Bedrock. If anything, I am a bit concerned this might be too serious for the price point, but I suppose there are better things to lose sleep over. The wine has a dark core of perfumed, dense fruit. This is a classic California Zinfandel and will go down as one of the best "Old Vine" bottlings we have made.
