Wine Review: This dark ruby colored Merlot from Beaulieu Vineyard opens with a red currant and red plum bouquet with hints of rose petals, cedar, and cinnamon. On the palate, this wine is medium plus bodied with integrated medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is nicely balanced with some depth. It is also smooth, and silky. The flavor profile is a tasty red plum and gentle blueberry blend with notes of crushed stone dust, black cherry, and cedar. We also detected some hints of light black tea, mushroom, and clove in the mix. The finish is dry and its polished tannins build-up and stick around for a while. The Tasting Panel would pair this Merlot with a Brazilian picanha steak or with an herb encrusted rack of lamb. Enjoy – KWGTP
