Wine Review: This very translucent and dark red colored Pinot Noir from Beau Marchais opens with a black tea, black raspberry, and mint bouquet with hints of cinnamon and strawberry. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, smooth, and fruit forward. The flavor profile is stewed red plum and raspberry blend with notes of stony minerality and strawberry. The finish is dry, and its flavors and moderate tannins are nicely prolonged. The Tasting Panel would call this Pinot a sipper. With food we would pair this wine with duck confit. Enjoy - KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: 2021 Beau Marchais Soberanes Vineyard Nord Pinot Noir – The Northern portion of the Soberanes Vineyard ripened a full two weeks later in 2021 than the Sud portion. This produced a wine with somewhat lower alcohol and more backbone. Oh, it's still a Beau Marchais wine – but one that will appeal more to those that appreciate more structure in their wines. Quite frankly, this wasn't Philippe's preferred style although he very much appreciated this type of wine.
