Wine Review: This is a delicious spicy Zinfandel from Sonoma County. It is a medium purple color and has dark cherry, blueberry, paraffin, cola and vanilla in the bouquet. It has a medium body and medium acidity and is juicy and lush. It has slightly jammy flavors of dark cherry and mulberry, with some vanilla, black pepper. There are moderate grippy tannins in the big lingering finish that has a hint of pipe tobacco. Open a bottle with your favorite BBQ, especially some burnt ends. - Mark
Winemaker Notes: Our 2016 Bear Flag Zinfandel is structured and full-bodied with a subtle hint of spice. On the palate, dense, dark fruit characteristics are reminiscent of blueberry pie. Notes of toasted oak and vanilla seamlessly meld with a plush, lingering mouthfeel. A touch of Petite Sirah was added to the final blend to add some more dark fruit notes, structure and supple tannins.
