Wine Review: This slightly cloudy and dark ruby colored Sangiovese based wine from Banfi opens with an earthy, craisin and dark cherry bouquet. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced and savory. The flavor profile is a tasty black olive, mild black plum and cedar blend. I also detected hints of mild tart cherry and a touch of anise. The finish is dry and its flavors and well-managed mild tannins drift away nicely. This crowd-pleasing red is very food friendly and would pair well with many dishes. I would pair it with veal parmigiana. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: Deep and intense mauve red color. Gentle aromas of vanilla, tobacco and coffee, with hints of cherry jam and prunes. Harmonious with soft, well-balanced tannins. Persistent finish and great potential for aging. Perfect with red meats, wild game and aged cheeses.
