Wine Review: This slightly opaque and dark ruby colored Zinfandel opens with a mild blueberry bouquet. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced and fruit forward. The flavor profile is a tasty boysenberry with notes of black cherry. I also detected touch of oak and hint of dark chocolate as well. The finish is dry and its flavors and well managed tannins drift away nicely. I would pair this very nice Zin with braised short ribs. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: This deep purple and aromatic wine shows off heaps of fruit with equal measure cool-climate spicy and savory notes. It’s nicely textured and incredibly juicy with bright acidity and a dark-chocolate and cherry profile that begs for the next sip. The finish is long and lasting with a lingering coffee touch and light tannins that add grip and structure. The light oak treatment lends viscosity and that helps balance and soothe the tannins inherent in the Syrah grape. This Zinfandel has both the aromatic impact and balanced structure to pair well with heavier fare like rib eye steak or lamb osso bucco. Yet, its delicate and pretty enough to pair with lighter foods as well.
