Wine Review: This white gold colored Gruner Veltliner from Baker & Brain is impressive. It opens with a lime bouquet with a hint of green apple. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, slightly acidic and mouthwatering. The flavor profile is a tasty mild lime and mineral blend with hints of ginger and a touch of yellow grapefruit at the very end. The finish is dry and its flavors and pleasant acidity drift away nicely. This Gruner is very food friendly and would pair perfectly swordfish skewers. Enjoy – Ken (SIP Certified)
Winemaker Notes: Our first release from our own plantings in the Edna Valley, this represents our most lively and fresh vintage to date. Though still clearly California, this Gruner Veltliner shows the zesty lime and peppercorn aromatic profile of more prestigious Austrian vineyards, framed by the white flower and apple characters you have come to love in our flagship white. Delicately balanced alcohol and bold acidity mark this wine as a food friendly chameleon, matching with pork chops.
