Wine Review: This clear pale garnet colored Pinot Noir from Au Bon Climat opens with a strawberry and cedar bouquet with hints of red raspberry and black pepper. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with integrated medium acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, smooth, delicate, and refined. The flavor profile is red licorice and red plum blend with notes of cinnamon, black pepper, and pomegranate. We also detected some hints of cedar and black tea towards the end. The finish is dry, and its flavors and very fine tannins fade away nicely. The Tasting Panel would pair this versatile Pinot in the near term with a ground turkey Bolognese. Enjoy – KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: A reticent Pinot Noir that, with airing, reveals a nose of perfumed red and black cherries, dried cranberries, star anise and cedar. The palate is silky, nuanced, with spice-laced flavor layers energized by lip-smacking acidity. Lovely now, this will only grow more profound with some cellar time. Pair this complex, layered Pinot with roast turkey, oak grilled pork chops, or a lamb roast.
