Wine Review: This light red colored Pinot Noir from Au Bon Climat opens with a strawberry and teaberry bouquet with hints of red licorice and wet stone. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, smooth, bright and has nice tension. The flavor profile is light strawberry and gentle cedar with notes of teaberry and red plum. Hints of clove, stony minerality, black tea, and tobacco. The finish is dry, and its flavors and acidity linger and last for quite some time. This Pinot is young and benefits quite a bit from aeration. So, I would decant it in near term before serving it with strawberry basil chicken. Enjoy – KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: Knox Alexander Pinot Noir exhibits a refined profile with notes of ripe strawberry, delicate black tea, hints of lilac, and the subtle allure of hibiscus. Passion fruit floral components add a graceful touch. The palate experience is enduring as the once prominent tannins from wood components have now evolved into a silky texture, promising further integration and refinement with time. Knox Alexander has enough structure and tannins to stand up to meaty and gamey flavors. Pair with seared duck breast with a strawberry balsamic reduction or with an herb-crusted rack of lamb with a side of roasted vegetables.
