Wine Review: This dark red colored Pinot Noir opens with a fragrant black cherry and black plum bouquet. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied and nicely balanced between it acidity and fruit. It also displays a round and smooth mouthfeel. The flavor profile is a tasty, slightly tart plum with notes of light cola. I also detected hints of oak, black pepper and faint strawberry. The finish is dry and its flavors and mild tannins fade away nicely. This Pinot would pair well a grilled pork tenderloin. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: If there is one characteristic that stands this varietal apart from other growing regions, it is in the complex aromatics that suggests cranberry, dried rose petals and earth. The Pinot Noir fruit from Bien Nacido for this wine is clone 115 from block 2. The wine was made with 60% whole clusters, a technique used in Au Bon Climat Pinots of the past. This wine possesses intense fruit character, baking spice notes, and layers upon layers of complexity.
