Wine Review: This straw colored Vermentino from Tuscany opens with a fragrant ripe pear and pineapple bouquet with a hint of lager beer. On the palate, this wine is light bodied with mild and gentle acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced and graceful. The flavor profile is a gentle lime and Anjou pear blend with notes of almond and saline. I also detected a touch of pineapple in the background. The finish is dry and fades away nicely. This delicate styled Vermentino avoids the tartness that is sometime associated with the grape. It is versatile, food friendly and very easy to drink. I would serve it slightly chilled on a warm summer evening with broiled sea scallops. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: The Aslan Maremma Toscana Vermentino reveals gorgeous aromas of ripe pear, white peach, preserved lemon peel and apple blossom. Layers of crushed rock and fresh almonds complement the fruit driven core. This wine is distinctly focused and reflects the close proximity to the sea with a gentle saline note. The wine generously coats the palate and leaves an enduring finish.
