Wine Review: This light straw colored Pinot Grigio opens with a shy light pear bouquet with hints of peaches, pepper and minerally. In the mouth, this wine is slightly dry and tart with light pear, pepper and mineral flavors. This wine exhibits good balance and structure with a nice dry slightly tart finish. Think summer and have this Pinot Grigio with steamed mussels sauteed with shallots and garlic and served with drawn butter. - Joe
Winemaker Notes: Straw-yellow in color, Ascevi Cerou Pinot Grigio has a bright, floral fragrance. White flower aromas are joined by bits of lychee fruit on the expressive nose. The palate is loaded with ripe, yellow delicious apple flavors. Hints of lemon zest are present as well along with a nice roundup of spices such as white pepper and a hint of vanilla bean. Tart, green apple flavors emerge on the finish along with limestone, graphite and wisps of tangerine zest. Firm acidity lends to the refreshing and crisp nature of this wine. Served chilled, it is delightful as an aperitif, served with light hors d’oeurves and appetizers, or with fish dishes and white meats.
