Wine Review: This deep purple colored Syrah opens with a boysenberry, mushroom, and dried cranberry bouquet with hints of allspice, bacon, and black licorice. On the palate, this wine is full bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is smooth and very well-balanced. The flavor profile is mild cured meat and blackberry blend with notes of black cherry-cola and black olive. I also detected hints of allspice, anise, dark chocolate, and black pepper. The finish is dry, and its mild tannins and flavors linger nicely. This Syrah is delightful! I would enjoy this Syrah by the fireplace on a cold winter night. With food, try it with Colorado lamb chops. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: This yields an impossibly dark garnet (nearly black) color, with neon tinges at the rim, pointing at the cool climate origins. Right now, the wine has notes of ripe Rainier cherry, black pepper, blackberries, charred bacon, tar, and just a hint of toasty oak. The ideal drinking window for this Syrah is 4-12 years from today.
