Wine Review: This ruby colored red blend made from mostly Grenache is very good and it was well received by our group. It opens with a black cherry and cola like bouquet. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced, and easy to drink. The flavor profile is a tasty gentle plum with hints of boysenberry and faint oak. The finish is dry and its mild tannins and flavors are nicely prolonged. This wine is very food friendly and paired well with the seafood paella at Herb Lyceum. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: This rich red is a blend of 60% Grenache, 25% Syrah and 15% Mourvedre. It was given a more serious winemaking regimen with a bit more new oak. I also chose a "bigger" Syrah to blend in with the Grenache and Mourvedre, so the resulting wine is a bit more "profound". I think that it is perhaps the best Esperance that we have ever released. All of the extra work yields a rich, concentrated wine with aromas and flavors of ultra-ripe strawberries, black cherries, and blueberries, mixed in with the spiciness of cinnamon and vanilla from the toasty new French Oak.
