Wine Review: This deep ruby colored Petit Verdot based blend is a great value in terms of cost to quality. It opens with an inviting violet and black cherry bouquet with hints of pipe tobacco, black licorice, and blueberry. On the palate, this wine is full bodied with integrated medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is nicely balanced, rich, and concentrated. The flavor profile is blueberry and stewed black plum blend with notes of acai berry, and vanilla-cola. The finish is dry and its well-managed tannins drift away nicely. The Tasting Panel would drink this gem on its own. With food, we would pair it with a bone-in prime filet. Enjoy - KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: Monarchy is my nod to the nobility of the Bordelaise. In terms of Bordeaux varietals, Paso Robles’s secret weapon is Petite Verdot. Its deep blueberry sits mid-palate with a velvet mouthfeel. Malbec is the lush, earthy fruit and Cabernet Sauvignon provides the Structure. The blend delivers with all the Pomp and Circumstance that the Bordelaise requires but we throw a fair amount of Anarchy into the mix to keep it real. A Big wine to be paid with rich meat dishes that require a touch of sophistication and elegance.
