Wine Review: This very dark ruby colored Syrah from Walla Walla opens with a beef jerky, blackberry, and espresso bouquet with a hint of new leather. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, round and savory. The flavor profile is a jammy blackberry and cured meat blend with notes of dark chocolate, black olive, and blueberry. I also detected hints of black pepper. The finish is dry and its flavors, acidity and bold tannins build-up and are nicely sustained. I would decant this winter warmer for a little while before enjoying it with some beef bourguignon. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: Smells like candied bacon, vanilla, espresso, tobacco, and dusty bramble.
Tastes like fig, plum compote, baking spice, & warm blackberry pie.
Mouthfeel slowly expands across the palate with a silky, &dark texture.
Drink with grilled rack of lamb, BBQ, gorgonzola, & kalamata olives.
