Wine Review: This light yellow colored Chardonnay opens with a mild creamy lemon yogurt like bouquet with a hint of vanilla, bread dough, coconut, and almond. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced and savory. The flavor profile is a blend apple and oak with notes of roasted almond. I also detected hints of lemon and pear as well. The finish is dry and its flavors and gentle acidity are nicely prolonged. This Chardonnay would be a good match for chicken cordon bleu. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: Vineyard blending is becoming a lost art in the ultra-premium sector of California winemaking. Globally, many of the most respected and decorated winemakers covet the art of component blending and consider it an essential tool in crafting the very best and most complete cuvees. In this wine, clones 76 and 95 (from Floodgate Vineyard) contribute tremendous bright acidity, crisp citrus fruit and a lean stature, while Clone 4 (Westside Farms) fills out the mid-palate with complimenting notes of honey and fresh-cut pear.
