Wine Review: This medium ruby colored Corvina based wine from Allegrini is very approachable and food friendly. It opens with a black raspberry and pomegranate bouquet. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with integrated mild acidity. The mouthfeel is soft, round, nicely balanced and very easy to drink. The flavor profile is a plum and gentle crushed stone minerality blend with notes of red cherry and hints of earthy loam. The finish is dry, and it drifts away nicely. While this very good value Valpolicella is not the most complex offering, it is ideal to pair with weekday Italian red sauce dishes. It paired perfectly with my Buitoni three cheese tortellini and Davio’s fresh Italian sausage topped with Mezzetta marinara sauce and BelGioioso shredded parmesan cheese. Enjoy - Ken
