Wine Review: This very dark ruby colored wine from Allegrini opens with a mild black plum and old oak bouquet. On the palate, this wine is full bodied, balance and juicy. The flavor profile is an old oak infused plum with macerated black cherry mixed in. There is also a nice streak of minerality throughout this wine as well. This wine has a lot of complex character. The finish is dry and its big tannins are present right from the start. I would decant this wine in the near term. Serve it with a well-marbled piece of beef. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: La Grola is excellent paired with red meat dishes, whether roasted or with dark sauces, and especially lamb. It is also delicious with stewed or grilled mushrooms and with mild, aged cheeses.
