Wine Review: This pale straw colored Gewurztraminer opens with an inviting classic styled bouquet of lychee. I also detected a hint of pineapple. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied and slightly acidic, yet has a round mouthfeel. The flavor profile is a tasty lychee with nicely integrated minerality. I also detected some hints of tangerine and pineapple. The finish is dry and refreshing. This very good value Gewurz would pair nicely with a Thai chicken satay. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: Our 2016 Gewurz is harvested exclusively from a single small CCOF vineyard about one hour north of our home estate. Over the years our style with this wine has evolved, along with the name. Winemaker Kevin Hall is continuing the slightly drier style to showcase the fruit and acidity, and as a result the wine is more food friendly. In the glass the 2016 has the classic floral, tropical aromas of grapefruit, stone fruits, pear, and melon. The flavors are similar to the aromas highlighted by apple, pear, grapefruit, spice and a round rich mouthfeel. There is a nice acid balance on the finish.
