Wine Review: This very deep ruby colored Tempranillo from Ribera Del Duero opens with a black cherry and dark roast coffee bean bouquet with hints of oak. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with medium plus acidity. The flavor profile is a black plum and oak blend with notes of herbal tea. I also detected hints of dill, vanilla bean, and orange zest. The finish is dry, and its dusty tannins and flavors fade away nicely. This Tempranillo would complement many meals. It would pair well with a crispy pork carnitas. (Mexican slow cooked pulled pork with black beans) Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: Color: Clean and brilliant with an attractive black cherry color and purple undertones.
Nose: Quite intense aromatics revealing ripe red berry and black fruits. Licorice notes, typical of the Tempranillo variety, also come through. Sweet, roasted coffee bean aromas follow with hints of vanilla and touches of spice.
Palate: Fleshy, silky entry on the palate with perfectly integrated acidity and very pleasant, gentle tannins. Black fruit flavors in the finish with blackberry in particular. The oak is very nicely integrated, expressing notes of toast and vanilla, characteristic of a wine aged in American oak barrels. A medium to long finish.
Food Pairings: Great with rice dishes, white and red meats, roast suckling lamb or suckling pig.
